and which ones they wish they hadn’t of received.
Here's what they told us...
Their 10 Favorite Baby Gifts
1. Clothes
in Larger Sizes: We weren't surprised by the item most moms were glad they
received. A whopping 53% of moms chose clothes in larger sizes as one of their
favorite three items.
2. Clothes
in Newborn Sizes: Since babies go through several outfits a day, it's great
to have lots. 27% of moms selected clothes in newborn sizes and told us that
they most appreciated cotton onesies and pajamas because it's all baby wore
for the first few months.
3. Books:
We think that baby can never have too many books and 26% of moms we surveyed
agreed. They chose books as one of their favorite three items.

and skincare products for baby: Good quality skincare products for babies
(just like for adults) can be pricey. That's why 24% of moms said one of their
favorite gifts was bath and skincare products for baby. They especially liked
all natural products so they know their little ones skin would be well cared
for.
5. Blankets:
Soft blankets of different thicknesses are always needed when baby is small.
22% of moms said they loved getting blankets as gifts, particularly ones that
are small enough for baby to hold on to. They're the ones that are sure to become
favorites when baby becomes a toddler!
6. Keepsake
Items: This is such a special time for parents that they want to remember
it forever. 20% of moms said they loved receiving keepsake items that they can
cherish now, and then keep for baby to cherish later.
7. Gifts
for Mom: At first we were surprised that only 19% of women chose gifts for
mom as a favorite - until we realized the number was so low because most women
didn't receive any gifts for themself! Turns out a lot more of them would have
loved to get something special that was for them.
8. Toys:
Toys are extremely important to baby's physical, emotional and intellectual
development. That's why 18% of moms said they loved getting toys for their newborn
that helped them get a good start.
9. Bibs
and Burp
Cloths: The only thing parents tend to go through more of than clothes,
is bibs and burp cloths! 18% of new parents said it was one of their favorites
and several said they wish they had of received more. With all the cute designs
available now they are fun gifts to give.
10. Nursery
Furniture: Although most moms agreed they wanted to pick their own nursery
furniture, they liked having help with the costs once they'd decided on the
perfect set. 17% of moms chose nursery furniture as one of their top 3 favorite
baby gifts.
An honorable mention goes to "diapers".
A lot of moms told us how much they loved receiving diapers. They're such a
huge expense when baby is small so we weren't surprised!
The Gifts They Most Wanted to Receive
Only 25% of moms got everything they wanted as a gift for their new bundle of
joy. So what were they hoping for but didn't get?
"Gifts
for mom" was the clear winner, with 21.6% of women saying they would
have liked to get something personal for themselves. After 9 long months we
don't blame them! "A
baby journal" (18.2%), "personalized/monogrammed
keepsakes" (13.6%) and "nursery
artwork" (13.6%) were also popular answers.

The 5 Gifts Moms Can Do Without
When asked which gifts they wish they hadn't of received, the majority of
moms (31.5%) responded that they were happy with everything they got.
However, 21.7% wish they hadn't of received of "clothes
in newborn sizes". Most of them said it was because they had already
purchased so many themselves, and baby outgrows them so quickly. As one mom
put it "I had a large baby so a lot of the newborn sizes didn't even fit!"
The rest of the top five included "nursery
décor items" (21.7%), "bath
and skincare products for baby" (10.9%) and "personalized/monogrammed
items" (10.9%).
One mom had a good point: “Someone gave me an outfit for baby to wear
home from hospital. Also, a blanket to come home from hospital. I didn't like
this. I wanted to choose what my baby came home in without worry of upsetting
anyone.”
